Beauty in Imitation
Beginning in grammar school, our art program points your child toward excellence, teaching first a reliance on master artists for their inspiration. Grammar school students participate in a weekly art class. In secondary, eighth grade students also take art, with additional art electives offered to high school students. FCA art classes are another example of our cross-curricular approach. What your child studies during art class often reflects and supports concepts being learned in your child's classroom.
Studio Art
Our studio art class is offered in high school and builds on a students' eighth grade art experiences. Your child will be introduced to mediums and techniques through hands-on exploration and discovery of artists and trends in visual art ranging from the Renaissance to postmodernism. They will develop an understanding of elements and principles that help in designing and creating beautiful artwork.
Photojournalism
In our high school photojournalism class, your child will discover how to capture memories in a way that inspires beauty. They will be given the opportunity to produce a yearly historical publication containing all aspects of FCA community life through discussion, planning, and execution, including learning how to shoot photos and design yearbook pages.
