Performance and Confidence
At FCA, your child will participate in choral performances beginning in prekindergarten, they will have the opportunity to participate in orchestral performances beginning in grammar school, and finally, your child will experience acting in middle school.
In each of these situations, your child will be working among their peers; they will be learning grace and humility and will grapple with what it means to shift their confidence to the Lord.
Choir
As one of the core specials classes at the grammar school level, music plays an integral part in establishing a strong, foundational knowledge of music, while also rightly shaping your child's loves. Carefully selected activities, including dancing and singing games, along with folk songs and hymns, aid your child to flourish in music literacy and vocal development. In addition, you will see a growing understanding of music surface in class culminating activities, field trips, and school-wide events like the monthly chapels and FCA's annual Christmas concert.
Your child will begin their years in secondary enrolled in a yearlong music course designed to refine their vocals, enrich their love of singing, and give them a fundamental understanding of music.
They will be encouraged to use their voice within the context of choral ensembles having the aim of creating beautiful, worshipful music and giving expression to the wonders of the human experience.
Grammar School String Orchestra
Your child can begin strings instruction in grammar school, where students with one or more years of private instruction are invited to participate in our grammar school strings ensemble program. These students have the opportunity to showcase their acumen in several venues, including our annual Christmas concert.
High School String Orchestra
FCA's high school string orchestra consists of student musicians who have had private lessons and who have demonstrated proficiency on their instruments.
The student's dedication and commitment to their art form leads them to create and share beautiful music with the FCA community.
Theater
After receiving instruction in theater during their seventh grade year, your child will be eligible to audition for the high school play. As an eighth grader, your child's participation in the high school play may include smaller supporting roles, scene extras, and stagehands.
Previous year's productions include “Mark Twain's Tom Sawyer,” “Pygmalion,” “Peter Pan and Wendy,” “The Diary of Anne Frank,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and “Little Women.” Take a look into some of those performances!
